Treat targeted problem areas such as fine lines around the lips, eyes and frown lines. Reduce the appearance of scars or skin damage such as acne scars and stretch marks on the face or body. Anti-ageing, anti-wrinkle treatment, treatment of hair loss, hyperpigmentation and more... Keep scrolling for your step by step guide on how to achieve amazing results using Dr Pen M8 Ultima.
Dr Pen is widely used by dermatologists around the world - clinical grade quality guaranteed. When you move Dr Pen over the skin, it creates a “micro-channel” which is why it's recommended you use it with a serum of your choice such as hyaluronic acid or EGF. These micro injuries also trigger the body’s natural healing process to create the appearance of fresher, newer looking skin. Check out these real results!
Follow our simple step by step guide on using the amazing Dr Pen M8 Ultima... Important information to start - It is advisable to discontinue all vitamin A/retinol-type creams 3-5 days before application to avoid irritation. It is also best not to take fish oil or anti-inflammatory tablets 3-5 days beforehand as this increases the risk of bleeding.
Tie your hair back and keep it away from your face. Cleanse your skin twice with a cleanser of your choice to remove all traces of makeup and lotions. Dirt, oil or stray hairs touching your face can increase the risk of irritation or infection.
-OPTIONAL NUMBING CREAM
Apply a numbing cream, this is an optional step - Microneedling can cause some discomfort (we call it vain pain) Numbing cream can ease any discomfort. You can buy the numbing cream over-the-counter at the pharmacy and apply it according to their instructions.
Make sure the device is fully charged or that you are near a power source. Prepare the area, sterilize the pen and the surface you are using, and have alcohol nearby. If you touch a serum bottle, brush or anything other than your skin and the device during treatment, cross-contamination may occur.
Apply the hyaluronic acid serum to the area to moisturise the skin. The serum will help the needles glide over the skin and prevent the pen from dragging.
Ensure your hands are clean; you can wear gloves if you feel safer. Open a new cartridge and attach it to your device. Do not touch the tip of the needles.
Select the desired needle depth by turning the dial on your pen (see our depth chart below).
Now apply the serum to the skin in small areas just before needling. It is recommended to move the pen vertically, horizontally and then diagonally in both directions, like cross-hatching.
We recommend working in a grid so you know exactly where you have and have not gone over with the pen. Apply light pressure and keep the skin taut with the free hand.
After the Microneedling treatment, redness and pinpoint bleeding are completely normal. This is nothing to worry about as this reaction is normal.
Avoid exercising, sweating or applying make-up for 24 hours. If you go outside, you must apply a sunscreen with a high sun protection factor.
You can wash your face with a gentle cleanser and use a nourishing moisturiser. Avoid products that contain fragrances, active ingredients (vitamin C, vitamin A, retinol), acids (AHA, BHA, lactic acid), physical exfoliants and toners that can irritate the skin.
Mild swelling, peeling and flaking may occur during this phase. To minimise these effects, you should moisturise the skin. Moisturising also reduces flaking and alleviate the feeling of tightness.
